Í ljósi þess að áhrif á öryggi Sambandsins og aðildarríkja þess eru innbyggð í áætlunina deilir hún einnig markmiðum og meginreglum með Varnarmálasjóði Evrópu sem komið var á fót með reglugerð Evrópuþingsins og ráðsins (ESB) 2021/697. Af þeim sökum ætti að úthluta fjármagni úr Varnarmálasjóði Evrópu til að fjármagna starfsemi innan ramma áætlunarinnar, einkum starfsemi sem tengist nýtingu innviða hennar.
[en] Due to its inherent implications on the security of the Union and its Member States, the Programme also shares objectives and principles with the European Defence Fund, established by Regulation (EU) 2021/697 of the European Parliament and of the Council. Therefore, part of the funding from the European Defence Fund should be provided to fund the activities under the Programme, particularly the activities related to the deployment of its infrastructure.
