Árum saman hefur hlutfall tilvika, þar sem ekki er farið að ákvæðum vegna örverufræðilegra öryggisþátta í tengslum við sesamfræ (fræ Sesamum) og betellauf (Piper betle L.) frá Indlandi, verið hátt. Af þeim sökum var aukin tíðni opinbers eftirlits með innflutningi á þessum matvælum, með tilliti til þess hvort Salmonella spp. væri fyrir hendi, fyrirskipuð á árinu 2014.
